I'd Rather Let Down the Buddha Than You
By Sheng Ge
Verse 1
I was a high monk in my past life
Still devoutly practicing in this life
Striving for the purity of the six senses
Hoping to reach the state of Nirvana
The moment I stepped into the Buddhist gate
I walked through the dust and light
As if I saw the Buddha smiling and beckoning me
My heart towards the Buddha is sincere
As firm as a rock
But the world is always unpredictable
You suddenly appeared
Your smile is as fragrant as an orchid
Your eyes are as clear as the stars
I suddenly fell into your clarity and purity
Verse 2
Since then, I've been falling deeper and deeper
The lake in my heart can no longer be calm
Knocking the wooden fish and chanting sutras
But the yearning secretly grows
Struggling between tenderness and the sound of the Buddha
There's no perfect solution in this world
If I don't let down the Buddha, I'll let down you
Walking forward in the vast fog
I have to make a decision
I'd rather let down the Buddha than you
The footprints in the snowy night extend towards Magye阿米
How fragrant and charming the butter tea is there
Bridge
The moonlight shines on the scripture hall, trying to wash away my confusion
The butter lamp burns brighter and brighter, wanting to break my love
I ponder bitterly in front of the Buddha, where love and faith collide
This heart has already lost its way because of you
Chorus
The sound of the wooden fish, silently reciting my attachment to you
The prayer flags fluttering, flying my yearning for you
Prostrating myself on the ground, devoutly apologizing to the Buddha
I'd rather let down the Buddha than you
If there is reincarnation, I still want to hold your hand
Strolling by Namtso Lake, under the snowcapped mountains, in the sunset glow, between the clouds and water
Watching the brownheaded gulls glide over the dreamy blue, lingering
